Mediamover laptop11/14/2023 ![]() I have a feeling that the survey based the assumption that I do not use the internet for creating based on my answer to question 8A, where I answered “No” to “Create or work on your own webpage.” However, this is not the case – I tend to use the internet for the exact opposite reasons, to aid in productivity and provide an outlet for creativity rather than for socialization. This conclusion also supports the survey’s revelation that I use the internet as a means of “social exchanges” and do not find value in “cyberspace as a path to personal productivity or an outlet for creativity.” In other words, I use the internet as a means of socializing rather than an aid to productivity or an outlet for creativity. However, I don’t frequently use online networks to create and share media – instead, I tend to just browse media that others have created. This suggests that I spend a significant portion of my time online creating and sharing media on sites such as YouTube, Instagram, Vine, Vimeo, etc. Upon submitting my answers to the survey, I was identified as a “Media Mover,” otherwise known as someone who has “a wide range of online and mobile habits.” I am the kind of tech user who is likely to “find or create an information nugget,” such as a digital photo or video, and “pass it on” to other internet users. Once the survey’s 14 brief questions have been answered, the tech user group that best fits the participant is calculated, and a description detailing the general characteristics of the group is provided. ![]() Reports produced by The Project that appear on Pew Internet are based on nationwide random phone surveys, online surveys, and qualitative research.Īs part of the Pew Internet Project’s Typology of Information and Communication Technology Users, a survey has been created that determines the category of technology users that participants belong in.
